What is La Galleta ?
Thank you for visiting .
The domain name, La Galleta, means "cookie" in Spanish.
Although the ingredients are different, the production process is very similar to making cookies.
I chose this name because the fun process of kneading, rolling, shaping, and coloring with glaze instead of icing is similar. In 2025, I changed it to the easier-to-remember "Tile Art Kyoka".
About tiles
Tiles are made to cover, protect, and decorate walls and floors. The word originates from the Latin word "tigura," meaning "to cover," and Spain is considered the birthplace of modern European ceramics. In Spanish, tiles are called "azulejo." Spread after the Muslim invasion of the Iberian Peninsula in 712, Spanish tiles, with their vibrant colors, brighten and beautify European cityscapes. Unlike mosaic tiles, they are produced using several techniques. For more details on these techniques, please see the PDF.

The crisp, clear air, the vast, bright blue sky, and the vibrant, colorful tiles unique to Europe—I was captivated by their beauty and plunged into this world.
It all started when I began learning flamenco. As my interest in Spain grew, I discovered "tile art."
I've loved crafts since I was a child, and I've always dreamed of studying something abroad, so I took the plunge, quit my job, and went to Spain.
During my six years in Seville and Valencia, I was able to immerse myself in languages, dance (flamenco, salsa, etc.), and the profound world of tile art.
" To brighten up your life " - We continue our activities with the aim of bringing joy and energy through colorful and vibrant tile art.
My name is Kyoka Ishi and I am a Spanish tile artist based in Tokorozawa, Saitama. I have always loved crafts and had a longing to experience foreign cultures. I first came across Spanish tile art while studying Flamenco dance in Japan and Spain. I became fascinated by the beautiful and colorful tiles, so I studied and practiced the art of Spanish tile for the six years I was in Spain.
